**Al-Siyasa, 30-4-2002, Issue 12006**\n**Case:** Appeal Acquits Flight Attendant of Embezzlement Charges\nThe Court of Appeal, headed by Justice Faisal Khuraibet with judges Mahmoud Arafa and Ibrahim Al-Obaid, annulled the Criminal Court\u2019s ruling that sentenced a Kuwaiti flight attendant to seven years in prison, imposed a substantial fine, required repayment of the embezzled funds, and dismissed him from his position at Kuwait Airways. The Appeal Court acquitted him of all charges.\nThe case arose after Kuwait Airways reported to the Public Prosecution that the defendant had embezzled cash in Kuwaiti Dinars and U.S. Dollars, particularly from the sale of perfumes and gifts on board, handled by flight attendants during flights. He was also accused of forgery in official documents, specifically computer data, to appropriate the embezzled amounts.\nThe first-instance court sentenced the defendant to imprisonment, fined him 2,000 KWD, dismissed him from his job, and ordered repayment of 5,000 KWD, with an additional fine of 10,000 KWD. The defendant\u2019s lawyer, Khalid Al-Shatti, appealed, arguing that the accusations were unfounded and lacked any basis in fact or law. He highlighted that the embezzlement accusation had become widespread among colleagues because the defendant had no personal access code for data entry and was only a trainee in computer data entry.
